"The time I did it I was in pretty good shape coming off my triathlon season. I finished with a half Iron Man race in October. The next several weeks leading into the tour, I just backed off my intensity. I would try to get in one to two hours of riding on most weekdays with some rides with intensity. And then the weekends would typically be 100 to 120 miles on Saturday and Sunday. And then at least one of those weekends. I did it three days back-to-back. It’s really all just about volume and finding a comfortable pace that you know you can handle for several days in a row. I think it helps a lot if you’re coming off a season with some intensity in it so you don’t have to really worry about where your threshold is those last few weeks you can just focus on time in the saddle, being comfortable and learning how to stay as aero as possible".
